For centuries we have always wondered if we could recover the start of Clan Cunningham, or even if we could find just one shard of evidence that could support the existence of a Malcolm the son of Frisken. In this study, which we had to delay publishing, because we needed more time to gather the data, we not only find a son of Malcolm, we can now put together the evidence and conclude that Malcolm (the father of Norman) was in all likelihood the brother of William de Percy. This article, which ties together surviving land records, also argues that Frisken, Malcolm’s father, was related to Arlette, who was the mother of King William the Conqueror.
