Volunteers Wanted: Help Us Run the Battle of the Clan Games for Charity
We’re building something new — a series of charity sports meets that bring Scottish clans together to compete, from the local green all the way to an international championship. And we can’t do it without volunteers.
What Are We building
The initial Clan Games will run across three games (Football, Golf, and Lawn Bowls) at four competition levels:
- Local heats — small, community-based meets where clan members can play for fun, or compete to be ranked for regional championships
- Regional championships — the best from local heats face off across a wider area
- National finals — a single national championship bringing together all the regional winners
- International championship — the pinnacle event, that brings together clans and clan societies from around the world
Every event has the potential to raise money for charity, and every level needs people to make it happen.
Roles We're Recruiting for
Event Organisers (all Levels)
We need organisers at the local, regional, and national level to handle the essentials of running a competition:
- Booking venues and securing permissions
- Recruiting and briefing the officials and stewards
- Managing schedules, heats, and scoringÂ
- Coordinating with clan societies and local charities
- Handling health and safety, insurance, and risk assessments
No two events are the same — a local meet might be an afternoon on a village field, while a national final could be a full weekend production. We’ll match you to a level that suits your experience and the time you have to give.
National & international level Coordinators
For our national finals and international championship, we’re specifically looking for volunteers with backgrounds in the sport and those who have knowledge in tourism or hospitality.
At this level, we’re not just running a competition — we’re hosting competitors, clan delegations, and supporters who may be travelling long distances, in some cases from overseas.
We need people who can help with:
- Welcoming and orientating the public, assisting the needs of the visiting competitors and coordinating with the clan delegations at the host site
- Coordinating accommodation, transport, and arranging local logistics
- Managing information points and visitor services during the event
- Liaising with the media, local tourism boards, hotels, and transport providers
- Supporting international visitors with travel or cultural queries
If you’ve worked in tourism, event hospitality, destination management, or visitor services, this is where your skills could make the biggest difference.
Why volunteer?
There are many reasons
- • Be part of a genuinely new event, from the ground up
- Help raise money for good causes through sport and tradition
- Meet clan communities from across Scotland and around the world
- Flexible commitment — from a single local event to an ongoing regional or national role
How to get involved
When you contact us tell us:
- Which level you’re interested in (local, regional, national, or international)
- Any relevant experience — event organising, sports administration, tourism, or hospitality
- How much time you’re able to commit
We’ll be in touch to talk through where you’d fit best.
