After 15 years of research, we can now begin to see the true start of Warnebald (Warenbald) of Kilmaurs; and we have also begun to recover the connection between Kilmaurs and other early family lines of Clan Cunningham. With the recovery of the long lost notes of Frederic van Bøssen we have also gained new insight into how our early ancestors were linked to Shakespeare’s Thane Banquo and the last days of the Kingdom of Strathclyde, and why young Prince Malcolm would flee to the house of Malcolm the son of Frisken after the death of his father. It is thus no exaggeration to say this marks a transition in not only the study of the early history of Clan Cunningham, but surprisingly this may also rewrite the history of many other clans in Scotland.
