Clan Cunningham would like to congratulate Caden Cunningham for his recent victory at the World Taekwondo Grand Prix, which was held in Rome in June 2023.
Â
In a tense semi-final he defeated Chinese competitor Zhaoxiang Song over three rounds. In the first round Caden was leading until the last five seconds. Then in the second round he was down 6 point to 9 in the last 10 seconds before scoring a kicking his opponent out of the ring in the last second. In the third round he held the lead until the last five seconds, before landing a 1 point kick in the last second. Â
Â
In the final his opponent was Nikita Rafalovich from Uzbekistan in the final. This match went more smoothly with an 8:2 win in the first round, and a 14:7 win in the second round.
Â
He will next compete for Britain in the 2023 European Games held in Krakow.
Â
And while we are discussing Martial Arts, our very own CCG Director Robert Cunningham sadly will not be able to compete this year at the World Kung Fu Championships due to injury. He qualified earlier this year as part of the US National Team.
