The Metro has just announced that actor Gavan O’Herlihy, who played Chuck Cunningham on Season 1 of Happy Days has died. He was 70.
Chuck Cunningham was the older brother of Richie (Ron Howard) and Joanie (Erin Moran), and he appeared in all 9 episodes of Season 1. In Season 2, his part was recast and played Randolph Roberts, but after only two episodes Chuck was written out of he series, to allow Fonzie (played by Henry Winkler), to take on the role of unofficial big brother to Richie.
