This review is very important for Clan Cunningham historians. It confirms the link between the people who controlled Cunningesholme in Lincolnshire with the de Berkeley family who are linked to the descendants of Warnebald of Kilmaurs. There is also a suggestion that the de Berkeley family may have been the source of the name Kilmaurs, with the name perhaps originating form the name Maurice. This suggests Warnebald may not have been an ancestor of Clan Cunningham, but simply a relative who held Kilmaurs before Clan Cunningham acquired the estate through marriage.
